CHARLESTON -- A Lawrence County, Ohio, man is suing Loomis Armored US, LLC, after he claims he was a pedestrian in a parking lot when he was struck by one of its vehicles.
Ronnie W. Meadows, an employee of Loomis, was also named as a defendant in the suit.
On Dec. 12, 2011, Arthur R. Kirk was a pedestrian in the parking lot of Speedway in Burlington, Ohio, when he was struck by a vehicle owned by Loomis and operated by Meadows, according to a complaint filed Sept. 18 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Kirk claims Meadows operated the 2007 Sprinter freight truck owned by Loomis negligently, carelessly and recklessly.
The defendants’ negligence caused Kirk to be seriously injured, according to the suit, and caused him to incur expenses for medical care.
Kirk claims he suffered great pain and anguish of body and mind, emotional distress, aggravation and inconvenience.
Meadows had a duty to operate the vehicle in a safe manner and failed to do so, causing Kirk’s injuries, according to the suit.
Kirk is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. He is being represented by R. Matthew Vital.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Tod J. Kaufman.
