PERSONNEL FILE: Steptoe & Johnson elevates five to of counsel

BRIDGEPORT – Steptoe & Johnson PLLC is pleased to announce that five of its attorneys will be promoted from Associate to Of Counsel effective Jan. 1.

Philip S. Griffith practices energy and real estate law in Steptoe & Johnson’s Bridgeport office. He earned his Bachelor’s degree and his Juris Doctor from West Virginia University. Griffith joined the firm in 2007 and is currently a member of the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation, the West Virginia Oil & Natural Gas Association and the Greater Appalachian Basin Association of Lease and Title Analysts.

Gary D. Holland focuses his practice in the areas of real estate, commercial transactions and mineral title examinations in the firm’s Charleston office. Holland earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky and Juris Doctor from Appalachian School of Law. He joined Steptoe & Johnson in 2008.

Nathaniel I. Holland assists oil and gas industry clients with litigation and business transactions from the firm’s Meadville, Pa. office. He joined the firm in 2010 when it merged with Meadville-based Culbertson, Weiss, Schetroma and Schug, P.C. Holland earned his Bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and his Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School. He is a member of the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation, the American Association of Professional Landmen and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

Justin R. Pasfield focuses his practice in the areas of tax planning, corporate law, entrepreneurial law and international transactions. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting from North Carolina State University and Juris Doctor from West Virginia University. Pasfield joined the firm’s Morgantown office in 2006. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Association of Attorney CPAs.

Mathew L. Sampson practices real estate, as well as oil and gas law in the firm’s Meadville, Pa. office. Sampson earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his Juris Doctor from Widener University. He is a member of the Northern Appalachian Landman's Association and serves on the Board of the Directors of the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation.
