Charleston – Jackson Kelly PLLC recently promoted six attorneys to membership status. They are Wendy G. Adkins, William C. Ballard, Michael P. Leahey, Christopher G. Peterson, Timothy R. Rounds and Erin R. Stankewicz.

Adkins practices in the Industrial, Environmental and Complex Litigation Practice Group and is part of the firm’s Higher Education Industry Group representing higher education entities in West Virginia on various matters.

Ballard is a member of the Commercial Law Practice Group, where he focuses on commercial bankruptcies.

Leahey’s practice focuses on the defense o fthe firm’s energy sector clients in general civil litigation in connection with wrongful death and personal injury claims. Leahey has handled multi-party litigation involving claims of premises liability, deliberate intent, indemnification, products liability and work place safety.

Peterson is a member of the firm’s Occupational Safety and Health Practice Group. His practice involves representing mining clients under the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act and other state and federal health statutes regarding compliance issues, policy, legislative and regulatory matters, civil and criminal enforcement issues, accident investigations and special investigations on both state and federal levels. His litigation practice encompasses matters ranging from pre trial discovery to post trial appeals.

Rounds practices in the Land and Natural Resource Development Practice Group, where he focuses on real estate transactions, specifically oil and gas property acquisitions, divestitures, lease negotiations, title examinations and curative work. In addition, he has experience in land and legal due diligence associated with oil and gas transactions.

Stankewicz is a member of the firm's Industrial, Environmental and Complex Litigation Practice Group and has extensive experience representing energy companies in mass tort cases as well as other complex litigation.
