Woman sues Pjax, driver for car accident

CHARLESTON – A woman is suing Pjax, Inc., after she was injured in a car accident caused by one of its drivers.

Jason Lee Thomas, an employee of Pjax, was also named as a defendant in the suit.

On Jan. 26, 2011, Loretta Douglas was operating a 2000 Buick Century on Interstate-79 when Thomas, who was operating a tractor-trailer owned by Pjax, negligently collided with her vehicle, according to a complaint filed Jan. 25 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Douglas claims Thomas failed to maintain control of his vehicle and caused her injuries and damages.

Thomas was acting in the scope of his employment at the time of the collision with Douglas’ vehicle, according to the suit.

Douglas claims she suffered injuries, medical expenses, lost income, emotional distress, pain, inconvenience and loss of the ability to enjoy life.

Pjax is liable for the actions of its employees, according to the suit.

Douglas is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by R. Michael Martin.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Charles E. King.

A suit was filed on Jan. 18 in Kanawha Circuit Court by Tiffany Ward, who alleges she was also injured in a car accident caused by Thomas.
