WHEELING - A Wheeling continuous care center is being sued over claims a resident received inadequate medical care.
Sylvia Ann Szersen, individually and as the executrix of the estate of Martha Ann Markwas, filed suit April 29 in the Circuit Court of Ohio County against Wheeling Hospital Inc., doing business as Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center, citing negligence.
Szersen says from March 25, 2011, to May 2, 2011, Martha Ann Markwas was a resident and patient of Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center. According to the complaint, while Markwas was a patient, Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center negligently cared for her.
According to the brief, the facility's negligence, including the development of uncontrolled diabetes, pressure ulcers and improper wound care, caused Markwas pain and suffering.
The plaintiff is seeking an undisclosed amount of damages and is being represented in the case by Moundsville attorney C. Richard Wilson and Pittsburgh attorney Chad P. Shannon.
