WHEELING - A former employee is suing an Ohio County help center over claims she was terminated after she questioned the nonprofit agency's use of public funds.
Sandra Lyons filed a lawsuit on July 23 in the Circuit Court of Ohio County, against Upper Ohio Valley Sexual Assault Help Center Inc. and Linda Reeves, citing wrongful termination.
Lyons says her job was terminated April 12 after she shared her concerns with Reeves and others at the help center that Ohio grant-funding was being used inappropriately.
She claims the defendants violated the Whistleblower Statute as well as the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act, according to the brief.
She is seeking an undetermined amount of damages.
Lyons is being represented by Wheeling attorneys Paul J. Harris and Shawn L. Fluharty of Harris Law Offices.
