Wrongful death suit filed against Pine Lodge

BECKLEY - A woman's estate is suing a nursing home facility after allegedly improper care caused injuries leading to a resident's death.

Barbara A. Moore, as administratrix of the Estate of Elsie L. Evans, filed a lawsuit April 30 against Sunbridge Beckley Health Care Corp., doing business as Pine Lodge, Sunbridge Healthcare Corporation, also known as Sunbridge Healthcare LLC, Sun Healthcare Group Inc., Sunbridge Care Enterprises Inc., SHG Services Inc., Sabra Healthcare Reit Inc., Genesis Healthcare LLC, ABC Business Entities 1-10, John Doe Medical Providers and John Doe Controlling Officers, Managing Members and General Partners 1-10 in Raleigh County Circuit Court, citing negligence, premesis liability, breach of fiduciary duty, wrongful death and survival act.

According to the complaint from March 1, 2011, through April 4, 2012, Elsie Evans was a resident of Pine Lodge in Beckley. The complaint alleges that while a resident, the defendants failed to provide adequate care, which resulted in injuries to Evans and led to her death on April 12, 2012.

Moore is seeking an undisclosed amount of damages. She is being represented in the case by attorneys Peter D. Giglione and Ryan J. Duty of Wilkes & McHugh PA.
