Wrongful death suit filed against Pine Lodge

By Thomas Kallies | Oct 11, 2013

BECKLEY - Linda Floyd, as personal representative of the estate of Thelma McHenry, filed a lawsuit in Raleigh County Circuit Court naming Sunbridge Beckley Health Care Corp. doing business as Pine Lodge, Sunbridge Healthcare Corp. and Sun Healthcare Group, Inc., as defendants.

According to Floyd, McHenry was admitted to Pine Lodge in July 2011 and continuously subjected her to poor care, neglect and abuse.

Floyd claims McHenry sustained injuries from falling, was given the wrong medication and allowed to become dehydrated among other issues.

Additionally, Floyd claims the defendants failed to recognize the potential adverse effects of administering insulin to a resident refusing to eat.

Floyd attributes McHenry's untimely death to the negligent care of defendant. Floyd is suing for negligence and wrongful death. Floyd is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages and is being represented by the Bell Law Firm, PLLC.
