FAYETTEVILLE - A former volunteer firefighter is suing over claims that a local fire department wrongfully discharged him.
James Robert Bowles filed a lawsuit in November in the Circuit Court of Fayette County against Smithers Volunteer Fire Department Inc., citing wrongful discharge.
The plaintiff says he was wrongfully terminated from the fire department due to whistle-blowing activities, such as stating the fire chief was using fire department funds for personal use.
The plaintiff is seeking an undetermined amount of damages. Bowles is being represented by attorneys Michael T. Clifford and Richelle K. Garlow.
