CHARLESTON – A South Charleston woman blames the Charleston Town Center for injuries she received while shopping at the mall.

Charlene Adams filed her lawsuit last month in Kanawha Circuit Court against Charleston Town Center SPE LLC, doing business as Charleston Town Center. The mall is the largest in the state.

Adams says she was shopping at the mall on May 4, 2014, when she fell and was injured. The complaint does not specify her injuries or how serious they were. She blames her injuries on the mall’s negligent maintenance and upkeep and its failure to maintain a safe environment for customers.

She seeks compensatory damages for past, present and future physical injury, medical expenses, mental anguish, annoyance, inconvenience, loss of enjoyment of life, lost income and loss of earning capacity. She also seeks pre- and post-judgment interest, court costs, attorney fees and other relief.

Adams is being represented by G. Patrick Jacobs of Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Charlie King.

Kanawha Circuit Court case number: 15-C-1483
