BECKLEY – A medical transcriptionist is taking her former employer to court, claiming the doctor has yet to pay her thousands of dollars in fees.

Judy Lilly filed a lawsuit Sept. 1 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Dr. Jack Meshel of Bluefield, Va. Lilly claims she and Meshel entered into a contract to provide medical transcription services on an open account basis to Meshel's office. In the suit, Lilly alleges Meshel has refused to pay a number of the invoices for services.

Lilly seeks judgment of $16,766.88, as well as interest on the unpaid balance, costs and attorney's fees, and further relief as the court sees fit. Lilly is represented by James R. Sheatsley of Gorman Sheatsley and Co. of Beckley.
