Former DNR officer alleges defamation

Warrant

ROMNEY -- A West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR) law enforcement officer sued several superior DNR officers for defamation related to allegations that he unlawfully obtained a search warrant.

Steven Dawson filed suit against Col. Jerry Jenkins, Sgt. Stephen Antoine and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources in Hampshire Circuit Court, alleging they defamed him by accusing him of using false and misleading information in obtaining a search warrant in a 2014 case involving Ralph Buckley. Also named in the suit was Buckley's son, Jeremy Buckley.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages, punitive damages, plus attorney fees and costs of litigation.

Dawson is represented by Jerry D. Moore of The Moore Law Firm in Franklin.  The case has been assigned to Judge Charlest Parsons.
