CHARLESTON – A Kanawha County man says repair workers allowed water from a ruptured pipeline to damage his house and property.

Glenn Steven May filed against American Water Works Service Co. Inc. in Kanawha Circuit Court, citing negligence.

Throughout Sept. 16 and a portion of Sept. 17, 2013,  the suit says, maintenance workers from American Water Works were sent to repair a broken waterline and failed to prevent water from flooding May’s property at 68 Honey Farm Road in St. Albans. The water allegedly caused ongoing damage to a one-story frame house located on the property.

May seeks a jury trial and damages totaling $1.2 million, plus pre- and post-judgment interest. He is represented by James M. Pierson of the Charleston law firm Pierson Legal Services. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Joanna Tabit.
