CHARLESTON — A Kanawha County woman is suing a a truck driver and the company he works for, alleging that a rear-end collision caused her to miscarry.

Keri Foster filed a lawsuit Jan. 8 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Cedar Trucking Company Inc. and Corey Hinkle.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 10, 2014, while driving her 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt northbound in the Sharon Hollow area of Route 79 in Cabin Creek, Foster's vehicle was rear-ended by Hinkle's 1999 Kenworth Construct, owned by the Cedar Trucking Company. The plaintiff alleges that Hinkle then drove away from the scene without stopping.

Foster alleges that she was pregnant at the time of the collision and that as a result of the injuries she received, she suffered a miscarriage, as well as other injuries to her back and neck.

Foster is seeking compensatory personal and property damages, punitive damages and attorney's fees. She is represented by William C. Forbes and W. Jesse Forbes of Forbes Law Offices in Charleston. Judge Joanna Tabit will hear the case.
