BECKLEY – A Raleigh County woman is suing her former employer, Morgan’s Food & Spirits, claiming they violated safety rules which led to her injury.

Dawn LeGrand filed a lawsuit March 17 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Morgan’s parent, BHA Inc., alleging negligence and personal injury liability.

According to the complaint, LeGrand’s managers told her to clean a cooking area with a caustic cleaning chemical on March 17, 2014, but failed to provide proper safety equipment and eye protection. As a result, the suit says, LeGrand suffered serious and permanent injuries when some of the solution splashed in her eye.

LeGrand seeks a jury trial and compensation for injuries, medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and emotional distress, plus interest and legal costs. She is represented by attorney Paul S. Perfater of Myers and Perfater in Charleston.
