Son files wrongful death suit against mother’s nursing home

KEYSER – A Mineral County man is suing a nursing home, claiming its neglect of his mother led to her death.

William E. Perry, as administrator of the estate of Lenora Blanche Perry, filed a lawsuit April 7 in Mineral Circuit Court against HCR ManorCare LLC; Heartland of Keyser, WV LLC, doing business as Heartland of Keyser; ManorCare Health Services Inc., also known as ManorCare Health Services LLC; Manor Care Inc.; HCR ManorCare Inc.; HCR IV Healthcare LLC; HCR III Healthcare LLC; HCR II Healthcare LLC; HCR Healthcare LLC; HCRMC Operations LLC; HCR ManorCare Operations II LLC; Heartland Employment Services LLC; HCR Manor Care Services LLC, formerly known as HCR Manor Care Services Inc.; and ABC business entitites 1-10; John Doe nursing care providers 1-10; John Doe controlling officers, managing members and general partners 1-10; alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, while Perry was a resident of ManorCare in Keyser, she suffered from abuse, neglect and bodily injury, causing her pain and suffering, physical impairment, loss of enjoyment of life and medical expenses. The suit alleges these conditions were caused by the defendants’ negligent supervision, hiring and training of the facility’s staff.

Perry seeks a jury trial, punitive and compensatory damages, plus interest and litigation costs. He is represented by attorney Colin M. Esgro of Wilkes & McHugh P.A. in Pittsburgh.
