Fired worker accuses hospital of retaliation

PRINCETON – A Greenbrier County man is suing his former employer over claims he was fired for reporting alleged wrongdoing.

Harold Ed Jones filed a lawsuit April 15 in Mercer Circuit Court against Princeton Community Hospital Association Inc., alleging retaliation for whistle-blowing as well as violations of the West Virginia Patient Safety Act.


According to the complaint, during his three years of employment with Princeton Community Hospital, Jones told supervisors about instances of wrongdoing and waste, including alleged fraudulent billing practices. The suit claims Jones was terminated on March 10 for his actions.

Jones seeks a jury trial, punitive and compensatory damages, plus litigation costs and interest. He is represented by attorney Mark A. Atkinson of Atkinson & Polak PLLC in Charleston.
