CHARLESTON – A Dunbar woman alleges she was sexually harassed and burned by a supervisor.

Krystal R. English filed a complaint on Sept. 20 in the Kanawha Circuit Court against Marriott International Inc., Labor Ready Northeast Inc. and Richard Leach alleging sexual harassment, battery, failure to maintain a safe workplace, retaliation and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 1, 2015, she was working as an employee of Labor Ready and was assigned at a facility operated by Marriott and supervised by Leach. She alleges Leach made unwanted sexual advances towards her and applied a hot lighter on her hand, burning her and causing a scar. The suit states Marriott and Labor Ready ignored her requests for an internal investigation.

The plaintiff holds Marriott International Inc., Labor Ready Northeast Inc. and Leach responsible because the defendants allegedly owed the plaintiff a duty to provide safe workplace free from battery and sexual harassment from supervisors.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, jointly and severally, in an amount that will adequately compensate her for her damage, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and any other relief. She is represented by B. Luke Styer in Huntington. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie L. Webster.
