WHEELING – A Belmont County, Ohio, couple claims that doors at a Wheeling medical facility caused injuries to the wife.

Florence Janette Lee and Howard Lee filed a complaint on Nov. 18 in Ohio Circuit Court against Ohio Valley Medical Center Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Sept. 29, Florence Janette Lee was scheduled to see a physician at defendant's hospital. While she was attempting to pass through the doorway, the suit states the doors suddenly closed, throwing her to the ground. She alleges sustained injuries resulting in physical and mental pain, inconvenience and medical expenses. The plaintiffs hold Ohio Valley Medical Center Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn its invitees of the dangerous condition and failed to maintain the subject door and walkway safe and passable.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory damages in an amount to be determined by jury, prejudgment and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and any other relief as the court deems proper. They are represented by James G. Bordas Jr. of Bordas and Bordas PLLC in Wheeling. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Ronald E. Wilson.
