WINFIELD — A former employee is suing Toyota, alleging disability discrimination and wrongful termination.

Larry Lewis II filed a lawsuit Dec. 14 in Putnam Circuit Court against Toyota Motor Manufacturing and West Virginia Inc. alleging violation of the West Virginia Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 23, Lewis, a team leader at Toyota, was terminated from his employment because of a disability. As a result of Toyota's unlawful conduct, the suit says, Lewis will continue to suffer loss of income and benefits, and mental and emotional distress.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide reasonable accommodations, unlawfully discriminated against him in terms of compensation, tenure, and conditions of employment.

Lewis seeks trial by jury and judgment for all damages, costs and attorney fees plus all other appropriate relief. He is represented by attorney Walt Auvil of The Employment Law Center PLLC in Parkersburg.
