WHEELING — A Wheeling woman is suing a local medical center, alleging the defendant's negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Lois A. Lucas filed a complaint Dec. 28 in Ohio Circuit Court against Ohio Valley Medical Center Inc. alleging failure to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, on May 12, 2015, Lucas was attempting to enter the main lobby entrance of the Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling when she tripped and fell on a defective flooring. The suit says the fall led to severe physical and psychological injuries, damages, and trauma to Lucas' surgically repaired knee.

The lawsuit says Lucas also suffered loss of earning capacity and medical expenses of not less than $359,500.93. The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to eliminate the hazardous condition created by the defective flooring.

Lucas seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages to be determined by the jury, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees and costs and all other proper relief. She is represented by attorneys Robert P. Fitzsimmons and Brent E. Wear of Fitzsimmons Law Office Firm PLLC in Wheeling.
