Widow blames car rental, truck manufacturer, driver for husband's death

Car accident 21

BECKLEY — A Mercer County widow is suing a car rental business, truck manufacturer and drivers, alleging their negligence led to the death of her husband.

Dena Grose, executor of the estate of Jason Grose, deceased, filed a complaint Jan. 6 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Andrew Auto Rental LLC, Great Dane Limited Partnership, Essie Roc Transport Inc., Jamco Enterprise Inc. and Joseph F. Jordan, alleging failure to properly maintain their vehicles.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 7, 2015, Jason Grose was driving a 2012 Nissan Sentra he had rented from Andrew Auto Rental. The suit says he was hit by a semi-trailer operated by Jordan, owned by Essie Roc and manufactured by Jamco.

The lawsuit states Grose died the same day due to multiple traumatic injuries. The plaintiff alleges Andrew Auto Rental's vehicle airbag failed to deploy, Jamco defectively designed the semi-trailer and Jordan failed to maintain careful lookout.

Dana Grose seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys R. Dean Hartley, Mark R. Staun and David B. Lunsford of Hartley Law Group PLLC in Wheeling.
