Patient, husband accuse physician of negligence

Medical malpractice 09

LOGAN — A Branchland couple is suing a physician, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries to the wife and reckless conduct.

Patty Sanders and Roy Sanders filed a complaint Jan. 30 in Logan Circuit Court against Dr. Ramanathan Padmanaban, alleging he breached his duty to provide appropriate care and treatment.

According to the complaint, Padmanaban performed hip surgery replacement to Patty Sanders. The hip, the suit says, was improperly installed, creating a significant limb length discrepancy causing hip dislocations, sciatic nerve palsy, foot drop and other physical problems.

As a result, the lawsuit states, Sanders suffered extreme pain, discomfort and medical expenses. The plaintiffs allege the physician failed to exercise reasonable care in performing the procedure and failed to recognize and treat the complications arising out of his surgery.

Patty and Roy Sanders seek trial by jury, damages to be determined by the jury, plus punitive damages, pre and post-judgment interest, attorney fees and court costs and all other appropriate relief. They are represented by attorney James R. Fox of Fox Law Offices PLLC in Hurricane.
