Patient alleges doctor's negligence led to injuries

Medical malpractice 07

NEW MARTINSVILLE — A Wetzel County woman is suing a doctor, alleging negligence in maintaining his property to prevent injuries to the plaintiff.

Linda Stackpoke-Ritchea of New Martinsville filed a complaint March 11 in Wetzel County Circuit Court against Dr. Edward Priem, alleging he failed to maintain property so that it is safe for his patients and members of the public.

According to the complaint, on July 17, 2014, Stackpoke-Ritchea suffered injuries to her foot, ankle and other parts of her body when she fell from the pedestrian area of Priem's premises in New Martinsville.

As a result Stackpole-Ritchea says she suffered physical injuries, lost wages and incurred medical bills.

The plaintiff alleges Priem failed to warn the patient of the dangerous condition on the premises, failed to maintain the entrance/exit area of the clinic safe and passable and failed to adequately supervise, educate, test and examine people who were entrusted with the care and maintenance of the property.

Stackpoke-Ritchea seeks trial by jury and judgment against Priem for any relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by attorney Kevin L. Neiswonger of Neiswonger and White Law Office in Moundsville.
