KINGWOOD — A Preston County couple is suing a timber company, alleging its negligence caused injuries to the husband.
Michael L. Bulford and Lois J. Bulford filed a complaint March 15 in Preston Circuit Court against RC Logging LLC, alleging violation of Occupational, Safety and Health Administration regulations.
According to the complaint, on March 16, 2015, Michael Bulford was working as a loader operator for RC Logging on a timber job in Preston County. The suit says a co-employee, who was operating a Franklin skidder, negligently knocked over an upright tree, causing it to fall to other employees, including Bulford.
As a result, the lawsuit states, Bulford sustained severe injuries that resulted in physical and mental pain, loss of earnings and medical expenses. Lois Bulford says she has been deprived of society and companionship of her husband.
The plaintiffs allege RC Logging failed to provide a safe place to work and failed to properly maintain the skidder in safe condition.
The Bulfords seek trial by jury, damages to be determined by jury, attorney fees and costs of court, interest and all other proper relief. They are represented by attorneys Steven L. Shaffer of Estep & Shaffer LC in Kingwood, and by Mark A. Barney of Barney Law PLLC in Hurricane.
