FAYETTEVILLE — A Nicholas County man is suing a construction company, alleging the defendant's negligence resulted in injuries to the plaintiff.

John S. Carelli filed a complaint March 29 in Fayette Circuit Court against A-1 Construction, Inc. alleging failure to exercise reasonable care to avoid injuring others.

According to the complaint, on July 28, 2015, Carelli suffered suffered flash fire burns to his face, hands and other areas of his body at a construction site in Alloy when the defendant's employees used an electric jackhammer to finish digging a hole to install a fence and they hit a high-voltage cable, creating a flash.

As a result, Carelli says he suffered permanent injuries, lost wages and medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to exercise reasonable care to locate any underground utilities prior to jack-hammering the concrete in the hole.

Carelli seeks trial by jury, judgment sufficient to compensate for injuries, compensatory and punitive damages and all other appropriate relief. He is represented by attorney Anthony M. Salvatore of Hewitt and Salvatore, PLLC in Fayetteville.
