Employee blames company for patient's attack

BECKLEY — A Beckley woman is suing a hospital staffing company, alleging negligence led to her being attacked by a patient.

BECKLEY — A Beckley woman is suing a hospital staffing company, alleging negligence led to her being attacked by a patient.

Tonjia Hefner filed a complaint April 24 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Fast Staff, LLC, alleging the defendant's negligence allowed a patient to attack the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, in March 2016, Hefner suffered injuries from being attacked by a patient in the emergency room of Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. The plaintiff alleges Fast Staff failed to provide adequate security.

Hefner seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages, punitive damages, interest and all legal fees. She is represented by attorney Charles M. Love, IV of The Love Law Firm PLLC in Charleston.
