LOGAN — A Bruno woman is suing a Logan nursing home, alleging medical negligence and malpractice led to the death of her mother.
Lora Cantrell, personal representative of the estate of her mother Kathy Browning, filed a complaint May 9 in Logan Circuit Court against Trinity Health Care Services of Logan Inc., doing business as Trinity Healthcare Services of Logan, alleging wrongful death because the nursing home failed to exercise standard care and skill required of medical providers.
According to the complaint, on March 17, 2015, Kathy Browning suffered damages from an accidental fall at the defendant's nursing home, including multiple fractures, mental anguish, physical pain and suffering, and she incurred medical expenses. The suit says the fall resulted from the defendant's failure to provide adequate health care, protective and support services to its residents. The suit says Browning eventually died of her injuries.
The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to provide Browning with adequate supervision, care and treatment, and failed to keep her family members fully informed of her health status.
Cantrell seeks trial by jury, all damages, attorney fees, court costs, punitive damages, and other just relief. She is represented by attorneys Jeff D. Stewart, Andrew L. Paternostro and Shayla M. Rigsby of The Bell Law Firm PLLC in Charleston.
