FAYETTEVILLE — A horseback rider is suing a Fayetteville equestrian business, alleging negligence led to injuries to the plaintiff,
Alicia Brown filed a complaint June 1 in Fayette Circuit Court against The River Stop Company, doing business as Equestrian Adventures of West Virginia, alleging a horseback riding guide failed to ensure the safety of the riders.
According to the complaint, on June 18, 2016, Brown was part of a group trail ride at Equestrian Adventures' place of business when she fell off the horse more than once due to a loose saddle. The suit says Brown fell on a rocky path, hitting her head and sustaining permanent injuries, resulting in pain and suffering and medical expenses.
The plaintiff alleges Equestrian Adventures failed to provide an appropriate saddle to adjust on the horse assigned to the plaintiff.
Brown seeks trial by jury, judgment adequate to compensate the plaintiff's injuries and damages, plus interest and costs of court. She is represented by attorney Stephen P. Meyer of Meyer, Ford and Glasser in Charleston.
