Woman alleges ice on Res-Care Inc. sidewalk caused fall

Slip02

PRINCETON – A Mercer County woman alleges she was injured at a Princeton location because of ice on the sidewalk.

Katie Slaughter filed a complaint July 28 in Mercer Circuit Court against Res-Care Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 31, 2016, she was walking on the sidewalk on defendant's premises when she slipped and fell on ice-covered sidewalk and was injured.

The plaintiff holds Res-Care Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently allowed a dangerous condition to develop in the premises and failed to remove or eliminate the condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $75,000, plus interest, costs of suit and any further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Robert B. Warner and Christopher Schumacher of Warner Law Offices PLLC in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Derek C. Swope.
