HUNTINGTON – A Cabell County widower alleges negligence from a Culloden care facility contributed to his wife's death.

Charles Adams, as personal representative of the estate of Karen S. Adams, filed a complaint Aug. 2 in Cabell Circuit Court against Cabell Health Care Center LLC, Wisteria LLC, AMFM LLC and Cabell Huntington Hospital Inc. alleging negligence and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, Karen Adams became a resident at the defendants' Cabell Health Care Center in June 2016. The plaintiff alleges that the defendants failed to provide a safe environment for her and she suffered pressure-related skin injuries and developed septic shock and pneumonia. The suit states she died Sept. 27, 2016.

The plaintiff holds Cabell Heal Care Center LLC, Wisteria LLC, AMFM LLC and Cabell Huntington Hospital responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide proper preventative measures to prevent Karen Adams from developing skin injuries.

The plaintiff seeks all damages, attorney's fees, costs and expenses an all other relief that the court may see fit to award. He is represented by Andrew J. Paternostro, Jeff D. Stewart and Shayla M. Rigsby of The Bell Law Firm PLLC in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Alfred E. Ferguson.
