RIPLEY – A Jackson County woman is seeking damages after her hand had to be amputated because of a workplace accident in Millwood.
Tiffany Stroud filed a complaint Aug. 18 in Jackson Circuit Court against the Star Plastics Inc., Technology Plastics LLC, Ecotech Polymers Inc., et al. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 23, 2016, she was in the course and scope of her employment with defendant Star Plastics and/or other defendants and was cleaning a mixer. The suit states while cleaning the machine, it activated and her right hand was trapped. It later had to be amputated so she could be extricated, the suit states.
The plaintiff holds Star Plastics Inc., Technology Plastics LLC, Ecotech Polymers Inc., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a safe work place, failed to provide proper training and failed to provide a safe and functional means to clean the mixer.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, attorney fees, costs and disbursements and such other just and proper relief.
