Pedestrian files suit against city of Huntington after falling on sidewalk

HUNTINGTON – A Cabell County woman alleges that she was injured because of an uneven portion of sidewalk.

Amanda Adkins filed a complaint Sept. 7 in Cabell Circuit Court against the City of Huntington and John Doe property owner alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 13, 2015, she tripped over a raised and uneven portion of the defendants' sidewalk and was injured. The plaintiff holds the city of Huntington and John Doe property owner responsible because the defendants allegedly allowed the hazardous condition to exist and remain out of repair.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in excess the jurisdictional minimum of this court enough to compensate her for her damages plus all legal fees, interest and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Matthew P. Stapleton of Stapleton Law Offices in Huntington. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Christopher J. Chiles.
