KEYSER — A Maryland man is suing operators of a bar in Ridgeley and a patron, alleging assault, battery and negligence.
Donald B. Sheetz of Cumberland, Maryland, filed a complaint Sept. 29 in the Mineral Circuit Court against Jeffrey R. Fellers, Mickey C. McGeady, Uncle Joe's Woodpile, Joe Corwell Jr. and Raye Corwell, alleging the bar operators overserved alcoholic beverage to Fellers until he was intoxicated and negligently disregarded the safety of others inside Uncle Joe's Woodpile.
According to the complaint, on May 22, 2016, Sheetz was lawfully at Uncle Joe's Woodpile with his wife for her contractual engagement as a deejay for that evening. The suit says he was attacked by an intoxicated Fellers, causing Sheetz to sustain serious injuries to his face, nose and other parts of his body that required plastic surgery.
The lawsuit states Sheetz incurred substantial medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering. The plaintiff alleges Fellers verbally harassed Sheetz and his wife, assaulted Sheetz, grabbed him on his back, threw him onto the floor and thrust his face against the floor rail of the bar.
Sheetz seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees, court costs and expenses and all further relief the court deems just and appropriate. He is represented by attorney Anthony W. Rogers of Kirkwood & Rogers PA Inc. in Keyser.
