NEW CUMBERLAND – A Chester woman has filed suit against a school bus driver and a school board after she was allegedly injured when she was struck by the driver in a Chester elementary school parking lot.
Colleen Barker filed a complaint in Hancock Circuit Court against Hancock County Board of Education and John Doe alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 3, 2015, she was a pedestrian in the parking lot of Allison Elementary School in Chester when defendant John Doe carelessly operated a school bus and struck her. She alleges she suffered severe and disabling injuries that resulted in medical expenses, mental anguish and lost wages.
The plaintiff holds Hancock County Board of Education and John Doe responsible because defendant John Doe allegedly breached his duty to operate the school bus in a careful and prudent manner.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount to be determined by jury, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and such other general and special relief.
