PRINCETON – A Princeton woman alleges an instrument was left in her body after a surgery.

Debbie Harris filed a complaint on Dec. 4, 2017, in the Mercer Circuit Court against Bluefield Hospital Co. LLC, doing business as Bluefield Regional Medical Center, and Randy M. Brodnik DO alleging medical professional liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 21, 2016, she underwent a hysterectomy procedure with defendants. She alleges that after the surgery because of her complaints and symptoms, X-rays were taken that confirmed a foreign instrument was left in her body after the hysterectomy, and this object was removed.

The plaintiff holds Bluefield Hospital Co. LLC and Brodnik responsible because the defendants allegedly breached the standard of care by failing to remove all instrumentation from the plaintiff's abdomen during the procedure.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, attorney's fees, costs and expenses and such other appropriate relief. She is represented by Brian J. Headley of Headley Ballard LLC in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Derek C. Swope.
