CLARKSBURG – An insurance company is seeking more than $600,000 from a Bridgeport company after a leak of fracking fluid at a well in Morgantown.

St. Paul Fire and Marine insurance Co., as subrogee of Northeast Natural Energy LLC, filed a complaint in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, Clarksburg Division against Bear Contracting LLC alleging negligence and breach of contract.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 23, 2016, plaintiff's insured Northeast Natural Energy suffered significant damages from to the leak of fracking fluid due to defendant's faulty installation of the HDPE waterline system at its well in Morgantown. 

The plaintiff states it made payments for Northeast's damages in the amount of $626,006.27. 

The plaintiff holds Bear Contracting LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly improperly and negligently installed the HDPE pipeline, associated fittings and appurtenances.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages in the amount of $626,006.27, plus interest and costs and all other relief as the court deems just and proper. It is represented by Brian K. Cochran of Brewster, Morhous, Cameron, Caruth, Moore, Kersey & Stafford PLLC in Bluefield.
