BECKLEY – A Beckley property owner is seeking more than $11,000 after a water line ruptured and flooded her home.

Angela Sheets filed a complaint Jan. 19 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Beckley Water Co. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 22, 2016, she suffered extensive damage to her home when defendant's main water line burst and flooded her home. She alleges she was forced to expend $11,565 to have preventive repairs done on her home.

The plaintiff holds Beckley Water Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to replace a known defective old line.

The plaintiff seeks damages in the amount of $11,565, plus all costs for any futures repairs, litigation expenses and any further relief as the court may deem appropriate. She is represented by W. F. Richmond Jr. of Richmond Law Office in Beckley. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Andrew Dimlich.
