FAYETTEVILLE — A Fayette County woman has filed a lawsuit after she claims she found a piece of wire in a cookie she bought at Dollar General.

Pamela K. Ford filed a complaint April 5 in Fayette Circuit Court against Dolgencorp LLC, alleging the retail store operator failed to provide foods safe for consumption.

According to the complaint, on May 25, 2016, Ford was eating a package of Minees sandwich cookies purchased from Dolgencorp's store in Amsted. The suit says something stuck in her throat, which was discovered to be a piece of wire.

Ford says she sustained pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress and medical expenses in excess of $5,000 to remove the wire from her throat. The plaintiff alleges Dolgencorp negligently sold an unsafe product to consumers.

Ford seeks trial by jury and damages justified by evidence. She is represented by attorney Anthony M. Salvatore of Hewitt & Salvatore PLLC in Fayetteville.
