PRINCETON — Two parents of a deceased infant are suing medical professionals and a hospital, alleging wrongful death.

Jessica Thompson and Takoda Triplett, co-administrators of the estate of Skylar Jade Triplett, filed a complaint on May 9 in Mercer Circuit Court against Dr. Brandon Lingenfelter, registered nurse Tracey Watson, registered nurse Tara Bradshaw,  and Princeton Community Hospital Association Inc., alleging deviations from the standards of medical care.

According to the complaint, between Sept. 7-14, 2016, Jessica Thompson was a patient at Princeton Community Hospital and gave birth to Skylar Jade Triplet under the service of Lingenfelter. The suit says neither patient was provided with the proper medical service.

As a result, the suit alleges, Skylar Jade Triplett died, and the plaintiffs suffered from sorrow, mental anguish and damages for funeral and burial expenses.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to provide the acceptable standard of medical care when it failed to properly evaluate Skylar Jade Triplett's fetal heart issue and subsequently administer appropriate treatment.

Thompson and Triplett seek trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, costs of this action and all other damages deemed just and proper. They are represented by attorneys Stephen P. New and Amanda J. Taylor of the Law Office of Stephen P. New in Beckley.
