Locomotive engineer blames CSX Transportation for electrocution

MOUNDSVILLE — A locomotive engineer is suing a railroad operator, alleging violation of the Federal Employer's Liability Act.

Ralph M. Liggett of Moundsville filed a complaint in Wetzel Circuit Court against CSX Transportation Inc., alleging failure to provide safe equipment for the plaintiff to perform his work.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 13, 2015, Liggett he was electrocuted while working in the course and scope of his employment for CSX. Liggett says he suffered injuries to his right arm, shoulders, right hand, neck and back. 

The plaintiff alleges CSX Transportation's locomotive was not in compliance with the Railroad Locomotive Safety Standards.

Liggett seeks trial by jury, damages, post-judgment interest and cost of suit. He is represented by attorneys Willard J. Moody Jr and Michael R. Davis of The Moody Law Firm Inc. in Portsmouth.
