CHARLESTON — West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is part of a coalition of 51 attorneys general and 12 phone companies that have reached an agreement that will result in the phone companies adopting eight principles to fight illegal robocalls.
WELLSBURG – A circuit judge has granted a temporary restraining order to a Brooke County man seeking to keep an energy company from using his property as a temporary workspace and from using underground pipelines it installed.
CHARLESTON – A South Charleston man is suing Lowe's over alleged defects in his new roof and the home improvement retailer's credit card financing agent who continues to collect payments despite the dispute over materials and labor.
CHARLESTON – Former Charleston gastroenterologist Steven Matulis already is serving time for first-degree sexual abuse of a former patient. But civil litigation against Matulis, Charleston Gastroenterology Associates and Charleston Area Medical Center continues.
CHARLESTON – The state Republican Party chairwoman’s removal of the Wood County party official has resulted in a lawsuit. Rob Cornelius, chairman of the Wood County Republican Executive Committee, filed his complaint and petition for writ of mandamus Aug. 21 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Secretary of State Mac Warner and West Virginia Republican Party Chairwoman Melody Potter.
Truth be told, those who have grown up in West Virginia and Kentucky are sons and daughters of coal miners in a way – if not genetically, then psychologically at least, as grateful beneficiaries of the hard work they’ve done throughout their lifetimes.
