CHARLESTON – West Virginia Supreme Court Chief Justice Tim Armstead has directed state courts to suspend all but emergency proceedings through April 10 in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Armstead filed the court order March 16. It says all civil and criminal trials and jury orientations should be postponed.
CHARLESTON – The state Supreme Court has ruled Circuit Judge Warren McGraw incorrectly tried to have a case heard before him in Wyoming County when it should have been handled in Kanawha County. And the opinion references a similar ruling from 2011 involving McGraw.
MORGANTOWN – A new scholarship has been established at West Virginia University's College of Law in honor of Franklin Cleckley, who was one of the first African American professors at the university, by anonymous donors.
