PERSONNEL FILE: Jenkins Fenstermaker attorneys named Super Lawyers

HUNTINGTON – Three Jenkins Fenstermaker attorneys have been named West Virginia Super Lawyers 2007 by Law & Politics magazine.

The publication and its Web site -- www.superlawyers.com -- identify the top five percent of attorneys in each state, as chosen by their peers and through independent research of law and politics.

Attorneys Lee Murray Hall, Thomas Scarr and Robert "Bo" Sweeney are among the Jenkins Fenstermaker's lawyers that have been selected based on a three-step process which includes statewide searches and surveys, candidate examinations and peer evaluation by practice area.

Hall's practice includes general civil litigation, with an emphasis on insurance coverage and bad faith, general liability claims and commercial liability disputes. She has served as arbiter for coverage disputes on professional liability policies in Kentucky and West Virginia and has been named to the Best Lawyers in America, Insurance Law, 13th Edition, 2007.

Hall also has served on the Board of Governors to the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia since 2004 and currently serves as secretary to the organization. She is also secretary of the Cabell County Bar Association.

Scarr received his juris doctorate at the Marshall-Wythe School of Law of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., and concentrates on general litigation, including commercial litigation, construction, personal injury, products liability, toxic tort and labor and employment law.

He is a 2005 recipient of the Defense Research Institute Exceptional Performance Citation, "for having supported and improved the standards and education of the defense bar, and for having contributed to the improvement of the administration of justice in the public interest." He is also rated as an AV attorney in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and has been recognized in several past editions of Best Lawyers and Chambers USA.

Scarr has served on several boards including the Huntington Museum of Art and the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the West Virginia University College of Law, Development Council. He is also president of the Huntington Jewish Benevolent Association, Inc. and the advancement chairman for the Boys Scouts of America, Tri-State Area Council Executive Board.

Scarr is licensed to practice law in West Virginia, Kentucky, and before the United States Supreme Court.

Sweeney practices construction litigation and general civil litigation with an emphasis on asbestos, lead, and toxic tort litigation and is a member of the American, West Virginia and Cabell County Bar Associations. He earned his law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law of the College of William and Mary and has been involved with a number of community organizations, including the United Way of the River Cities and the Huntington Museum of Art.

He was also a vestry member and junior warden for the Trinity Episcopal Church from 2000 to 2004. Mr. Sweeney has also been named to the Best Lawyers in America, Mass Tort Litigation, 13th Edition, 2007, and is licensed to practice in West Virginia.Super Lawyers is published in 48 states and reaches more than 13 million readers.
