HUNTINGTON - A Cabell County man has filed a suit against the county commission, seeking to be reinstated to his job with the county emergency medical services.

Robert Jobe filed a suit Dec. 20 in Cabell Circuit Court against the Cabell County Commission. Jobe was employed by Cabell County Emergency Medical Services, which is under the control of the commission.

According to the suit, Jobe was hired by the EMS on Nov. 1, 2005, and was employed until July 30, 2007, when he was fired.

Jobe, who was 35 when he was fired, claims he was discriminated against because of his age, which is a violation of the West Virginia Human Rights Act. Jobe claims he properly performed his job duties as required by the EMS.

Jobe seeks to be reinstated to his former position, or front pay in lieu of reinstatement, plus back pay and an award for emotional distress, embarrassment and mental anguish.

Jobe, through attorney J. Michael Ranson, also seeks compensatory and punitive damages.

The case has been assigned to Judge David M. Pancake.
