CHARLESTON — A Clay County man is suing Lowe’s Home Centers and a Hurricane company over an allegedly shoddy cabinet and countertop installation at his home.
Charles N. Blankenship filed a lawsuit May 19 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Lowe’s and Design Restorations LLC.
Blankenship says that on June 26, 2007, he entered into a contract with a Kanawha Lowe’s store to have new cabinets and countertops designed and installed in his home.
According to the complaint, the contract with Lowe’s guaranteed that the installation would be performed by an experienced installer, that the work would be inspected and warranted.
Blankenship says that when a crew from Design Restorations put in the cabinets and countertops on July 25, 2007, workman drilled into a waterline in the kitchen.
Blankenship also claims that the cabinets and countertops were not properly aligned, were not level and weren’t properly spaced.
He claims that crews from Design Restorations drilled into waterlines twice more when they came back to correct the issues. The leaks have caused water and mold damage, Blankenship says.
He’s seeking compensatory damages.
Marvin Masters and April Ferrebee are representing the plaintiff. The case is before Kanawha Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib.
