Berkeley Co. woman files lawsuit over Depo-Provero shot

Burke

MARTINSBURG - A woman is suing over claims medical staff working at a federally supported health center failed to properly administer an injection, leading to a permanent shoulder injury and severe pain.

Kearneysville resident Patricia Markle filed a lawsuit Oct. 3 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia against the United States of America, citing negligence.

Markle says she received a Depo-Provero shot on Nov. 15, 2010, while she was a patient under the care of Shenandoah Valley Medical System.

She claims medical staff working for SVMS and deemed to be employees of the United States failed to adequately treat, diagnose and care for her following the injection, leading to immediate and ongoing pain in her arm and shoulder, which is permanent.

Browning is seeking more than $100,000 in damages. She is being represented by Martinsburg attorney D. Michael Burke.
