Doctor sues medical group for breach of contract, misrepresentation

Contract

FAYETTEVILLE -- A doctor is suing a former employer for breach of contract and misrepresentation.

Dr. Barry A. Levin filed a lawsuit Jan. 13 in Fayette Circuit Court against Shahin A. Parsi, individually and as owner of Med-Surg Group, Vandad Parsi, individually and as president and CEO of Med-Surg Group, and Med-Surg Group, citing breach of contract and fraud through intentional misrepresentation.

According to the complaint, in 2013, after more than 13 years of working with Med-Surg Group, Levin's earnings were intentionally misrepresented by Shahin Parsi, in breach of the Physician Agreement he signed when he began working for the practice in 2000. Levin says he also was denied auto expenses, cafeteria services and malpractice tail insurance, all promised in the 2000 agreement, which cost him more than $85,000 to purchase himself. According to the lawsuit, Parsi claimed she did not have to uphold the Physician Agreement Levin signed with Parsi's husband, the previous owner of the practice.

Levin is seeking an amount in damages to be determined by the court. He is being represented in the case by attorneys Joseph L. Amos and Karen H. Miller.

Fayette County Circuit Court Case No. 14-C-6.
