BECKLEY -- A Raleigh County woman is suing a credit union, claiming harassment.

Heidi Carroll filed a lawsuit March 12 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Navy Federal Credit Union, citing violations of Consumer Credit and Protection Act, Computer Crime and Abuse Act and Telephone Harassment Statute, as well as infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy.

Carroll claims she received multiple phone calls from the defendant in order to annoy and harass her into paying debts owed the defendant. According to the claim, the defendant tried to collect the debts due in ways which are in direct violation of several laws put into place in the state of West Virginia.

Carroll is seeking damages, attorney's fees and court costs.

She is being represented by Fayetteville attorneys Ralph C. Young, Christopher B. Frost, Steven R. Broadwater Jr. and Jed R. Nolan of Hamilton, Burgess, Young and Pollard PLLC. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge H. L. Kirkpatrick.
