A store customer has sued a retail outfit, alleging negligence.

Marjory Young filed a lawsuit Feb. 5 against Little General Store Inc. in Raleigh Circuit Court, alleging negligence in grounds maintenance.

According to the complaint, the retail store, at 622 Johnstown Road in Beckley, allowed its front sidewalk to remain icy during the winter months. Young slipped and fell on the store’s sidewalk Feb. 20, 2014, and suffers from past and future pain, distress and impairment, the suit states.

According to the suit, Little General Store engaged in negligent, careless, and unlawful conduct by failing to keep the walkway clear or warn patrons of its hazardous surface.

Young seeks more than $46,092 in medical expenses plus compensation for damages, attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorney Charles M. Love IV of The Love Law Firm in Charleston.
